Exploring who you are
Room to work out who you are
For adults sorting through who they're attracted to, how they relate to gender, or a sense that something doesn't fit yet.
Sessions are conversation. You might talk about when you first noticed a question, what has changed lately, or what you would rather not think about. There is no list of questions to get through, and nothing to figure out by the end of the hour.
Sessions might include
Talking through what you have noticed, in your own words
Sitting with a question that hasn't settled
Naming things, or deciding not to

The details
How it works, and what it isn't
How Jamal works
Talk therapy. Jamal listens, reflects back what he hears and asks about what matters to you. He explains his approach, and where he trained, in your first session.
What this isn't
It isn't an evaluation, and Jamal doesn't decide who you are. He won't steer you toward an identity or away from one.
Length and frequency
Sessions are 50 minutes. Many people start with one every week or two and change it as they go. Your counselor sets the pace with you, and Jamal doesn't promise a number of sessions.
How it's paid
Open Shutter is out of network. Your fee is given in writing before you start, and Jamal can give you a monthly receipt for a plan that reimburses.

Three questions about this
Do I have to be sure of anything before I book?
No. Not knowing is a fine reason to come.
Will Jamal tell me what I am?
No. He asks questions and listens, and the conclusions are yours, whenever you reach them or if you don't.
What if I change my mind about what I'm exploring?
That happens. You can change the subject or your words in any session.
When you're ready, write to Jamal
A message is all it takes. You can ask a question first, with nothing booked.
